Let's see...I can chase my sweet
hubby around naked through the house! We can pick up and go away on a
moment's notice. I don't have to
worry about monthly problems or pregnancy. Can you imagine starting
all over at our ages?
Nobody is trying to get time on the puter. We can afford DSL. I don't wear makeup very often...don't know why that is, but I don't. Some days I never get out of my jammies, although with a puppy I do tend to get dressed sometime during the day to walk her in the neighborhood. Dinners...no more guilt if I don't cook every night. I can cook anything I want and not have someone say "Ewwww...broccoli!" No more macaroni and cheese. I can play MY music as loud as I want! Two words...spontaneous intimacy! My nest is newly emptied so I've got time to sit and figure it out. I do like the fact that I can cook what and when I want though cooking for two is a bit different. My hubby is a bit of an exhibitionist and all he thinks about is that he can now run through the house naked, lol. I'm a bit shy for that but maybe with some practice?
My house is staying cleaner, dishes are a cinch to wash now. I can leave a box of candy out and it will still be there ten seconds later. We can actually hear the TV. now. There's enough hot water for my shower at the end of the day. Laundry soap last longer and the grocery bill is a quarter of what it was just two weeks ago.
We re-did my son's room when he left for college (still "his" room, but fixed up, redecorated and organized) and it still amazes me every day that when I pass it by it still looks clean and neat! So, now that I know that the secret to a neat room is to have the resident move out, what do I do about MY room??? I like having more time to do things, but haven't quite figured out what to do with it yet. Yes, time does make it better after the kids are in college. We
have three in and I tell you, when my first daughter left - I
bawled in her dorm parking lot - didn't even wait to get home.
But you know, the communications with all of them now is more
than when they were living at home during their last few years
prior to college. The distance away has also given us time to
see in them what we hoped/and believed they would turn out like.
We see them as adults. (so why are we paying for college hehe)
It is a real blessing.
My hubby and I are finding ways to get involved more, but that is not easy - he still works and I have no desire to work out of the house. We homeschooled for 12 years so I am ready for time for ME!!!!
The week after my kids were all back in the dorms, I went through the whole house - repainted and decorated EVERYTHING! Tried all new techniques and colors that I had been talked out of before. It was sort of putting my "mark" on my home. Oh, sure the rooms were still theirs, but they had my mark on them now. I reclaimed the house as ours - hehe I love having this time, just do not want to waste this new found freedom, I want it to work, I want to be productive and fruitful. You start to notice that the older you get the less you care about what others think.
(I personally like this one!)...."Senior Discounts!!!" "Age is strictly a case of Mind over Matter......If you don't Mind it doesn't Matter." "They say that old age is just all in your head................the trick is to keep it from sliding down to your body." "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?"
